Terms of Reference Frist Aid Training for Oxfam staff

Introduction

Oxfam is a leading global humanitarian organisation that works with others to overcome poverty and suffering. As part of a global movement for change, we are working together with communities to support them to have a safety in decisions that affect them. Currently, Oxfam is implementing an integrated Emergency Food Security and Vulnerable Livelihoods (EFSL), Water and Sanitation and hygiene (WASH), and Protection initiative and development programs

Background

This ToR is developed for conducting basic first aid training for overall Oxfam Somali program team as part of developing staff capacities and preparing them to respond appropriately in the event of incident and accidents while working for Oxfam Somali program. And this capacity building training is part of safety and security awareness, well-being, and feed into attaining the set management standards in staff safety and security

Objective of the FA Training

Increase basic staff awareness to the basic first aid components and use to improve well-being

Reduce the adverse impact of incident and accident to Oxfam staff at the workplace, during travel and of course working for Oxfam

Scope

The first aid Basic training will be performed or conducted by a certified first aid trainer to be hired supported by the Oxfam HR/Security and training will be applicable to all categories of Oxfam staff.

Budget

Oxfam will cover all training cost/fees, catering, venue booking, stationary, transport cost of the facilitator (pick/drop off) and meals

Areas of Focus for Review

  • Introduction to the basic first and general principles.
  • Management of all types of bleedings and wounds
  • First aid of burns
  • Handling of food poisoning, scorpion, and snake bites
  • First aid of choking (Smoke, drowning, electric shock etc.)
  • Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)
  • Nerve system infection (Shock, Epilepsy, Unconsciousness’ etc.)
  • First aiding of fractures
  • Methods of handling casualties and/or injured people
  • Orientation on how to use first aid kit

 

 

Skills and Qualifications

Qualification and Experience

  • A medical practitioner with any of the following certifications, MBBS, RN, NP, B.L,T.S, A.T.L.S and W.A.L.S, EMT
  • Possess more than three years of professional experience in medical training in medicine, trauma life support and emergency are
  • Possess more than three years experience in training and development of training materials
  • Has additional training or experience in a broad range of related fields such as paramedics including first aid
  • Has previously conducted similar services to INGOs
