MSF is an independent humanitarian medical organization providing emergency medical aid to populations in need. MSF Somalia mission is seeking a qualified person for the position below:
Job Title: SPECIALIZED TECHNICIAN.
Work Location: Based in Baidoa – Somalia.
Start date: As soon as possible
Length of contract: Fixed term (1year) 100% with 3 to 6 months probation period
Main Purpose: Performing autonomously, specific complex / advanced installation, maintenance works and
repairs depending on technician’s specialization (requiring special/qualifications/training), according to supervisor’s instructions and MSF standards and procedures, in order to ensure a proper functioning and maintenance of MSF equipment, installations and infrastructures.
Other tasks include, but are not limited to:
Accountabilities
- Performing autonomously, all necessary installations, maintenance and repairs, according to the supervisors’ instructions and executes any needed tests after any repair or maintenance.
- Making suggestions regarding any repair or maintenance work needed in MSF electrical installations, equipment and/or vehicles and assisting logistics department for any relative work needed.
- Managing the stock of biomed, cold chain, incinerator and power consumable items, filling in the stock cards, carrying out physical stock inventories, executing orders necessary for renewing stock, avoiding any shortage.
- Responsible for the equipment and tools, including extinguishers, checking they are correctly and safely used, maintaining and renewing them when necessary and keeping the inventory updated.
- Keeping working area clean and tidy.
- Ensuring that all record sheets and books related to logistical maintenance are always completed. Preparing needed reports before and after any repair or required maintenance.
- Immediately informing the line manager of any problems that arise in the course of the work, particularly with regard to damage, loss, theft or attempted breakings.
Repairs and maintenance
- Ensure facilities remain in good state (lighting, roofing, furniture etc.) by performing high quality preventive and corrective maintenance.
- Maintain high quality maintenance to ensure equipment remain in good state (power supply, biomed, cold chain, energy, maintenance tools etc.).
- Supervise out-sourced technician and daily workers in case of need.
- Follow-up project equipment (biomed equipment and associated docs needed) repairs sent to Nairobi and keep the field logs informed.
Power supply and cold chain
- Perform minor repairs of generators, biomed, incinerator, cold chain, cabling, chargers/inverters, batteries, protection devices etc.
- Being the overall responsible for the maintenance of biomedical equipment, cold chain, energy etc.
MSF Section/Context Specific Accountabilities
In charge for assessing and repairs needed for the Baidoa office and rented facilities and following the reporting lines with the Hospital Facility Managere.
Follow up the maintenance requirements for the generator in Hospital and guest house. Job Requests follow up for OCBA, Baidoa.
Biomed, powe and cold chain equiment Inventaory Management.
Immediately informing the line manager of any problems that arise in the course of the work, particularly with regard to damage, loss, theft or attempted breakings.
Ensure the maintenance of the biomed and cold chain to be done properly and in a time manner.
Keep an inventory of all biomed and cold chain equipment and recording of the oxygen concentrators running hours.
Attends biomed and cold chain trainings and workshops and get new updates and protocols.
