Seeking a qualified candidate to serve as a Site Supervisor for construction project consisting of multiple hard structures and ancillary facilities. Candidate will be main point of contact for location and reports directly to the Project Manager. Will execute duties in compliance with the approved drawings for all construction activities and in compliance with the customer’s Statement of Work. This position will be based at one of three locations in Somalia. The duration of this contract will be approximately three and half years. The duties and responsibilities herein are representative of the nature and level of work assigned and are not necessarily all inclusive.
Responsibilities include:
- Experienced in major construction projects.
- Responsible for daily execution of construction tasks and activities on site as per the construction schedule.
- Ensure adherence to approved designs and specifications for work and all materials used.
- Responsible for supervising construction team of tradesmen, mechanical personnel, subcontractor personnel, and local national workforce.
- Provides status and progress reports to the Project Manager.
- Manages subcontractor activities on site, supplies, materials, and equipment.
- Assists PM in developing weekly sitrep supporting documentation.
- Oversees scheduled maintenance for all equipment and machinery.
Requirements – Desired Qualifications:
- A bachelor’s degree in civil engineering.
- Three years of management experience on construction projects in sub‐Saharan Africa or other post‐conflict countries as listed above. Management experience shall be defined as the senior‐most or second most‐senior person on the ground for the project and would have titles such as Site Supervisor or Construction Manager.
- At least two projects must be $3 million or greater in value.
- Five years of construction experience focusing on vertical construction. At least two years of experience on vertical construction must be overseas in either sub‐Saharan Africa or other post‐conflict countries as listed above.
- Excellent knowledge in both the written and spoken English languages.
- Excellent analytical, problem solving and organizational skills.
- Ability to operate in austere environment for protracted periods.
