About the Job
The Logistics Assistant is responsible for all inbound and outbound logistics for ICRC operations in and around Baidoa. He/she handles dispatch, deliveries, storage, quality and quantity control, Fleet management, Air operations, IMPEX and Transport, claims, distribution, packaging and inventory. He/she ensures adherence to the internal/global warehouse standards and proper documentation.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Dispatches and receives shipment (transported via air and road) for ICRC operations in Baidoa
- Follows to ensure safe arrival of cargo transported through the various means and, processes the required documents
- Monitor generators and vehicle fuel consumption/ follows up on maintenance and service ICRC vehicles and generators and update the fleet wave and creates fleet safety awareness to all ICRC drivers
- Monitor office and field vehicle movement to ensure full utilization
- Liaison with the handling company and local authorities at the airport and immigration department facilitates Air operations activities
- Updates SOKLOG team members on logistics activities, these includes, goods receipt/shipment and warehousing activities
- Handles warehouses operations and ensures proper documentation are in place
- Perform the monthly Inventory count and to ensure the Bin Cards are fully matched with inventory system quantities
- Organizes delivery of items according to the instructions received from the Head office in Nairobi
- Support and helps the purchase team to do field purchases
- Places orders for food supplies for Stabilization centres referring to the verified and approved suppliers list
- Consolidates invoices relating to food supplies monthly, and shares the data with the purchasing department
- Handles and updates the internal logistics system for stock management and prepares statistics periodically
- Uses the available internal/local tools and Excel to update cargo plans and to share information
- Files and archives the relevant Logistics documents in line with ICRC standards and rules

Skills and Qualifications
- Diploma in Business management, Procurement, Supply chain management or any other related field
- 2 years’ work experience in a similar field
- Fluent in written and spoken English and Somali language
- Excellent organizational and analytical skills
- Good communication and planning skills
- Proficiency in Ms Office suite (especially Word and Excel)
- Holder of a valid Driving license is an asset
- Good knowledge of political, social, and cultural affairs of the assigned region
