EPI Project Coordinator – National

ROLE PURPOSE :Under the general guidance of MoHD national EPI manager, the Project Coordinator will provide overall technical and coordination support to all immunization/child health projects in Hargeisa This includes but not limited to national level coordination systems in collaboration with SL Ministry of Health Development (MoHD) and other stakeholders, support quality improvement activities related to child health, pilot innovative approaches, promote multi-sectoral approach to child health, support district/regional management teams to design digital micro-planning, organize regional level review and coordination meetings, provide supportive supervision and training to field based staff (MoHD and partners), lead in documentation of best practices and project learning S/he will coordinate with other sectors for integrated delivery of interventions contributing to child survival. S/he provide technical support for the immunization technical working groups and organize monthly and quarterly review meetings in collaboration with the regional MoHD EPI focal persons.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

  • Health professional with basic degree in Medicine, Public Health or related fields in health sciences, Master of Public Health is an added advantage.  At least 5 years’ experience in similar role with substantial relevant experience in Health program management
  • Previous experience in coordinating, implementing, and managing complex immunization program in resource poor settings.
  • Experience in situation analysis, assessments, and program implementation.
  • Ability to support and build capacity of staff through performance management.
  • Excellent skills in monitoring implementation of immunization program activities
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability and willingness to travel extensively to the field, under sometimes difficult and occasionally insecure circumstances.
  • Experience in grant management and proposal writing is preferred.
  • Excellent computer skills: MS Word, Excel, Power point, Epi-Info/SPSS, Outlook, and the internet
  • Ability to multitask, work under pressure, exercise flexibility and adaptability to transition.
  • Commitment to Save the Children’s Safeguarding Policy
  • Experience in Somaliland context and with health implementation field experience in the country.

Sensitive to the cultural and political environment of Somaliland and can effectively plan to ensure the implementation of the project and manage resources effectively.
