Position Title : Auxiliary Nurse
Reporting to : Nurse in Charge
Location : Baidoa
Position Summary
As the Auxiliary Nurse for the Main Hospital you are expected to support health care team at the Hospital. Additionally, you will be registering children over 5 years within the program. The employee will work under the guidance of the Nutrition Supervisor. The employee will also provide assistance to the doctor and the other medical care team where appropriate, recognizing that the effective management of hospital depends on effective communication and participation of all members of the team.
JOB DESCRIPTION:
The following are key responsibilities of the Auxiliary Nurse role
- Give routine medicines according to the protocol
- Registers each child over 5 years that enters the centre
- Taking height and weight for children in medical centre
- Measuring weight MUAC of pregnant mothers
- Registration of pregnant mothers in the medical centre
- Doing Registration of children in medical center
- Explain to the mothers the reason of admission
- Check whether there are any clinical signs
- Refer to the doctor if there are any medical problems
- Gives health education all mothers with under five children and pregnant mothers in MCH like exclusive breast feeding, Nutrition, good hygiene and importance of vaccine.
- Daily and weekly statistics report of the MCH
- To undertake any other duties assigned by his/her supervisor
Skills and Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or Diploma in Nursing
- Registered with the National Nursing Council
- ACLC, BLS, ATLS training
- At least 5 years’ experience in a busy department and 2 years’ management/supervisory experience
- Adhere to dress code, appearance is neat and clean.
- Complete annual education requirements.
- Maintain patient confidentiality at all times.
- Report to work on time and as scheduled.
- Wear identification while on duty.
- Maintain regulatory requirements.
- Represent the Hospital in a positive and professional manner at all times.
- Comply with all policies and standards regarding ethical business practices.
- Participate in performance improvement and continuous quality improvement activities.
- Attend regular staff meetings and in-services.
- Knowledge of health care and medical procedures, including terminology
- Interpersonal/communication skills
- Problem solving skills
